A selection of very colourful shoes on sale at a shop in Essouria, Morocco.  The shoes are made from raffia dyed locally in a selection of vibrant colours.  Raffia is made from the fibres of the doum palm imported from Corsica.

Each raffia palm branch is made of nearly 100 leaflets. The raffia fiber is soft, pliable, and strong. Raffia is exported for various uses, such as tying up plants, binding together vegetables to be marketed, and weaving baskets, hats, and mats.
